August Update

August 2025

It’s been a lively summer so far for the team at The Estate Office. We’ve already attended four shows this season and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting clients, friends, and familiar faces along the way. These gatherings are always a highlight in our calendar, a chance to connect with our community and share in the traditions that make rural life in Argyll so special. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has visited our stand this summer, your support, stories, and good company make these events so worthwhile.

We’re not finished yet though, we still have two more shows still to come.

Behind the scenes, there has been plenty of activity as preparations continue for one of the most significant events in the local calendar, the Oban Games. As many will know, Oban holds an esteemed place in the history of piping, but what is often less well known is that all proceeds from the Games go directly toward supporting piping in schools across Argyll. This ensures that future generations can carry forward this proud part of our cultural heritage.

For anyone who has experienced it, the Oban Games offer one of the most stirring sights of the year. Pipers, dressed in full Highland attire, warming up near the train station before leading the march to the Games, create an atmosphere unlike any other. It is a moment that truly captures the spirit of Argyll – the sound of the pipes filling the streets, echoing the traditions of the Highlands.

Of course, the Games and local shows offer more than music and spectacle. They remain an important social and commercial occasion, with livestock sales and family entertainment bringing together communities from across the region.

This year, we are especially proud to once again sponsor the Tug of War competition - a much-loved highlight of the Games that brings with it a real sense of camaraderie, competition, and good cheer.

As is customary, The Estate Office will also be hosting a tent at the Oban Games on Thursday 28th August, situated next to the Members’ Tent. We warmly invite you to join us for a toast, meet our team, and allow us the pleasure of making introductions to some of our newest colleagues.

Our season will then draw to a close with the Dalmally Show on Saturday 6th September, another fantastic day out that always draws a great crowd. We hope to see many of you there as we round off what has been a truly memorable summer.

We look forward to sharing these last two occasions with you and celebrating the best of Argyll together.
